Create a job search strategy for 2025
It’s a weird time of year for job searching… hiring will slow down going into the holidays, which is a great opportunity to take some rest if you are able to. It’s also a chance to take advantage of that “pause” to create a plan when everyone comes out of hibernation in 2025.
I’m hosting a virtual workshop on how to create a job search strategy tomorrow, Dec 11 from 6:30 - 8 pm CT. I will be covering:
Identifying your “must-haves” and “dealbreakers” for your next role
Mapping your current network (you have one, I promise!)
Brainstorming roles/industries you are a competitive fit for
Creating realistic weekly goals in your job search

Overheard from a recruiter
I’m having conversations with recruiters, hiring managers, and other talent decision-makers weekly, and want to share tidbits of what I’m learning with y’all here too!
FYI - these aren’t direct quotes, but a summary of a longer conversation!!
When you hire junior talent, you’re hiring for attitude and work ethic. It’s hard to communicate to your recruiter how that manifests itself in successful candidates, and often get burnt out by dozens of lackluster interviews before finding an individual with potential.
One of the best and worst parts of applying to entry-level or junior positions is that it is less about the technical skills, and more about the soft skills and those “intangible” qualities.
Why it’s great - Your transferable skills (e.g. club leadership, working as a hostess, building your own TikTok brand) are relevant because they speak to your ability to get shit done, work with others, and learn quickly!
Why it’s the worst - “intangibles” are inherently hard to communicate, both to the candidates in a job description AND in a resume to an interviewer!
So… what should you do?
Network network network. This is everyone’s least favorite advice, which is why I will never stop giving it. When people get a chance to sit with you and vibe you out, they experience those intangibles!
Storytelling is your best friend. People only know what you tell them, and the best way to illustrate your soft skills is through real examples of when you had to teach yourself something new or deal with a rude customer.
