Career Tip of the Week
“I don’t know where to start”
This sentiment sums up most everything hard, but especially job searching. If you feel like you’ve just been throwing 💩 at the wall and are looking to reset, here are three things that you can do:
Write down a list of people you know that you haven’t talked to in a while. This could be someone you met randomly at brunch who had a cool job, a recent professor who seemed to like you, or even just a family friend who talks a lot about AI. Research them, think about a few questions you may have for them, and reach out!
Set REALISTIC goals for each day of the week. I also like to segment task type by day if possible. For example, Monday could be the day you are just looking up 20 new companies to apply to and see who is hiring. Tuesday you work on resumes. Wednesday you submit applications. Thursday you do some LinkedIn stalking. You get the idea!
Find an accountability buddy. Getting un-stuck is really hard. But if you have someone cheering you on and keeping you honest, it can make a big difference!

I’m having conversations with recruiters, hiring managers, and other talent decision-makers weekly, and want to share tidbits of what I’m learning with y’all here too!
I just can’t go through 800 resumes. It’s impossible. And I’m not using AI or anything!
Just another reminder that humans ARE looking at your applications! One tactical piece of advice: apply early! Being at the top of the stack is helpful when there is such a high volume of other resumes (even if the majority of them aren’t a great fit)
